Austin-based Flair Fest will feature 9 different artists, giveaways and pin trading
Heads up, Austin collectors!
The Burlap Bag is hosting its third Flair Fest this weekend.
The action will take place 1 p.m.-5 p.m. at the The Burlap Bag’s brick and mortar store location, which is located near the University of Texas campus at 3016 Guadalupe St, in Suite a101. Guests can park in the free parking garage located behind the shop.
“We’ll be having nine artists – we’re a super tiny shop so nine will even be a squeeze,” said shop co-owner Lauren Lowe, 29. “This year, we tried to get some new artists that we hadn’t had in the past so five of them are new to Flair Fest.”
Lowe said the first 50 attendees through the door will receive goodie bags filled with stickers and “4+ pins.” According to the event page on Facebook, those that buy 5 or more pins during the event will receive a free circle cork board to display pins. (While supplies last.)
There will also be free desserts and wine available.
The event organizers encourage guests to bring pins along to trade with other collectors. Trading will take place between 4 and 5 p.m. at the store’s couches.
The Burlap Bag, which celebrates and supports artists and handmade goods, opened seven years ago, just after Lowe and her husband graduated from college. The duo started selling enamel pins in their store three years ago and now has over 150 designs—all of which will also be on sale during the event. Flair Fest began three years ago as a fun partnership with artist The Pink Samurai.
It’s so fun to meet your favorite pin designers in person,” Lowe said. “It’s great when Instagram friends can become real friends.”
