A Weekend of Pin Events

No plans this weekend? Netflix and chill is great and all, but sometimes you just gotta get out there and do something fun. Thankfully, there are loads of pin-related events for you to check out tonight, tomorrow and Sunday.

TONIGHT

Los Angeles, California

Street Fighter II Arcade Tournament

About: Hadouken! Iron Triangle Brewing Co. in Downtown L.A. is hosting its first-ever Street Fighter II Tournament.

When: Sign-up is located at the bar between 6-30 pm. and 7:30 p.m. The action kicks off at 8 p.m. sharp.

Where: Iron Triangle Brewing Co., 1581 Industrial Street, Los Angeles, CA 90021

Tournament Details: The tournament will be screened live on a projector screen for the whole bar to see.  It costs $10 to enter the tournament and it comes with a free beer. Must be 21+ to play. Due to popular demand, Iron Triangle Brewing Co. is limiting the competition to the first 32 participants, so sign up promptly!

The tournament will be run on a randomized bracket with single elimination. First place wins a trophy, an Iron Triangle T-Shirt and hat and second/third place received a choice of tee or hat. There will be food by Poutine Brothers.

SATURDAY

POP Cats

About: Cat lovers–get ready to paw-ty! POP Cats is a two-day convention celebrating adorable felines, art, and pop culture.  POP Cats’ mission is rooted in helping cats by inspiring people to participate in the animal welfare community and by supporting feline organizations around the United States in meaningful ways. A portion of Attendance Tickets and Exhibitor Fees go directly into funding the convention’s participating animal not-for-profits.

When: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Where: Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704

Details: Both days include playtime with cats; cat adoptions; cat tattoos; photo ops; meet & greets; an art exhibition; and 80+ Exhibitors from The US and The World. Pin Sinister

About: An enamel pin pop-up at Hollywood’s underground alternative night-life destination, Bar Sinister.

When: 9 p.m.- 2 a.m.

Where: Bar Sinister, 1652 N. Cherokee Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90028. NOTE: Bar Sinister has a  stylized goth theme, industrial music & dancing.

Details: While Friday nights don’t call for a dress code, Saturday nights the club requires guests to dress in Gothic-Gaultier-Chic, Alternative/Upscale Black, Fab-Fetish or Futuristic Attire. No Baseball Hats or Flip Flops allowed.

Enamel Pin Artists Will Include: Monster Posse, Mood Poison, The Void Dead, Sick Sad Girls and Geeky and Kinky.

 

Full Bleed

About: A concept art show curated by Bloody Gums and A Shop Called Quest, and presented by Pabst Blue Ribbon

When: 7 p.m.-11 p.m.

Where: Art Gallery 1700 Naud, 119 Wilhardt St, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Details:  Allison Bamcat, Ballonski, Benjie Escobar, Chula Face, Dela Deso, Tofu, Francesca Quintano, Gloria Alva, Homeless Cop, Lunch Barf, Nicholas Mayfield and Menso One.     and Menso One. In addition to the works of multiple artists, 1700 Naud will have a new mural by Gaijin — the 2018 PBR featured artist.

Enamel Pin Artists Will Include: Benjie Escobar,Lunch Barf and A Shop Called Quest.

 

Green Saturday

About: A cruelty-free and vegan marketplace. Includes gifts, vegan food, snacks, conscious clothing, vegan accessories, indie jewelry, home goods and arts and crafts.

When: Noon to 5 p.m.

Where: The Petroleum Club, 3636 Linden Ave., Long Beach, California 90807

Details: Presented by Vegans from Mars and LB Vegan. This indoor event features more than 50 vendors and is open to all ages. Cover is $5 per person, children under 13 are free. The event flyer says “lots of free parking.”

A portion of all profits made during the event will be donated to The Whiskers and Tails Foundation, a non-profit animal rescue organization located in Rancho Palos Verdes in Southern California.

SUNDAY

Self-Express’d Sundays

About: Homemade, artisan, locally made, crafty, jewelry, apparel, home décor, snacks

When: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Where: Central Park Glendale, 201 Colorado blvd; Glendale, California 91205

Details: This outdoor event will feature more than 60 vendors.

Enamel Pin Artists will include: BB-CRE.8 and Bummer Days.

 

Daydream Party

About: A 1980s and 1990s themed event celebrating the relaunch of Tiny Bangs, an alternative Kidswear Brand.

When: 4 p.m.-8 p.m.

Where: The Laser Kitten space, 7600 Melrose Ave. K, West Hollywood, CA 90046

Details: The event is kid friendly. It will include a dream bedroom installation, swag bags, music and shopping.
