32nd Annual California Avocado Festival
About: Home of the world’s largest vat of guacamole! The California Avocado Festival is a A celebration of peace, love and guacamole at the three-day festival dedicated to the green fruit (yep, it’s a fruit, not a vegetable) in all its forms. In past years, the event has attracted 100,000+ people.
When: Friday 1 p.m.-10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.
Where: Linden Avenue in Downtown Carpinteria, CA 93013
Details: The event’s Food Venue, which features tastings of avocado-based recipes, like guacamole, salad, soups and more, is located on the 800 block of Linden Avenue.
The festival includes more than 70 musical acts on four different stages–The MAIN stage is located on 9th Street, The SEAL Stage is located in front of the Smart & Final, The GUAC & GROTTO Stage is located on 8th Street and the KIDS Stage is located on 7th Street. Signature events include the World Champion of Guacamole contest, avocado auction and largest avocado weigh-offs (they sometimes reach more than four pounds). There will be dozens of arts and crafts vendors, commercial vendors and food booths.
Parking: There’s a Park & Ride Shuttle Service available at Carpinteria High School on Foothill Rd. and Canalino Elementary School on Linden Ave.

Garden Grove, California
About: A Halloween Market in Southern California.
When: Saturday 1 p.m.- 5 p.m.
Where: Elk’s Lodge, 11551 Trask Ave., Garden Grove California
Details: There will be vendors, photo ops, giveaways and costume contests with cash prizes.
The first 60 attendees will receive a Salem’s Market exclusive pin.
About: A marketplace featuring original enamel pins and toys by local artists.
When: Saturday 11 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Where: The parking lot at 3D Retro, 1851 S. Victory Blvd., Glendale CA 91201
Details: Admission is free. The first 100 attendees receive an Enamel Market Halloween edition pin designed by Pirate Robot.

About: The East Coast’s largest pop culture convention.
When: Friday and Saturday 10:30 a.m.- 10 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Where: Will Call/Registration, the Show Floor, Artist Alley, select panels, and more is at The Javits Center, 655 West 34th Street in NYC. The Secondary Campus includes offsite locations: The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center, the Hudson Mercantile/Annexes, Shop Studios, and Pier 94.
Details: NYCC includes panels, speakers, special guests, autographs, costume contests, screenings, trailer launches and more.
