Star Wars/80s Movie Mash-Ups
Star Wars pin maker BB-CRE.8 adds new pins to their online store every Friday. This week, the brand takes us back to the 1980s—mashing up iconic movies with beloved characters from the SWU. Rambo plus Bobafett equals Ramboba-Fett. Conan The Barbarian meets Ben Swolo (AKA Kylo Ren) makes the ultra muscley Ben Swolo The Barbarian. C-3PO takes a job cleaning up the streets of Detroit and comes out chasing down creeps under the name C3P-Cop. And Beetlejuice merged with Darth Maul makes the obnoxious, devious demon Beetle-Maul.
The pins are each made from black nickel and hard enamel. Measurements vary between 1.5” and 2”. They’re all dual posted and come with corresponding rubber clutch-backs. Each pin is back-stamped with the artist’s brand logo. All four mash-up pins are available at the BB-CRE.8 website for $10 each.
Artist Girl Fawkes’ latest pin merges the feminism ideal of standing strong with your fellow sisters instead of tearing them down– but then added a bit of a fun, Halloween twist. The circular pin is made from hard enamel and measures 1” tall. The ghost glows brightly in the dark. It’s now available at the artist’s Etsy store for $10.
What if instead of celebrating state birds or state flowers, we celebrated their most well known horror figures? This week, as part of the brand’s States of Horror series, Crumby Pins released a new variant of his Michael Myers of Illinois and Jason Vorhees of New Jersey pins.
Previously available in four other variants, the limited edition Injury Variant features blood dropping down each character’s mask. Both pins are made from black nickel and hard enamel and glow in the dark. Michael and Jason each measure 1.5” tall, are each double posted and come with rubber clutches. Each pin is available for $12 at the Crumby Pins website. If you choose to buy both, you can save $4 by using the code INJURED.
Be kind and please rewind. For collectors of a certain age, Bootleg VHS makes enamel pins that appeal to a special kind of nostalgia. It’s a fondness for the time when our collection of movies and TV series were recorded from TV. This week, the brand launched a new design—the deep space adventures of Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock continue on VHS once again. This limited edition Star Trek pin is made from soft enamel and measures approximately 1.4” long. Each is back-stamped, dual posted and comes with rubber clutches. It’s available for $10 at the Bootleg VHS website.
How much do you love this time of year? If it’s a lot, you’re not alone. Earlier this week, Sugarnova Pins debuted a new design—a happy toadstool who can’t wait to share his love for the cool weather, pumpkin flavored treats and brightly colored foliage with you. This little guy is made from hard enamel and gold plating and measures 1” tall. Each pin is back-stamped with the Sugarnova Pins brand logo. Each order comes with a red rubber pin-back. Now available for $10 through the artist’s website.
